Why?
Because children learn faster and retain more information when they are enjoying the learning experience.

The Get Ready For School program has integrated activities designed by Occupational Therapists and Teachers to assist your child in developing skills for school. Just some of the activities that Occupational Therapist's use to meet children's needs include developing:

  • Fine Motor Skills for good writing abilities.
  • Gross Motor Skills for play and sporting abilities.
  • Visual Perception for accurate copying and sequencing from the board.
  • Self Care Skills for independence in getting ready before school.
  • Following directions in the classroom.

According to the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) in addition to dealing with an individual's physical well-being, occupational therapy practitioners address psychological, social and environmental factors that may hinder an individual's functioning in different areas of life. This unique approach makes Occupational Therapy a vital part of health care for children.
